Witnessing is a really old word for people who share the message of Jesus. It might make you think of someone stood in the street telling people about Jesus or an evangelist like Billy Graham doing a big event to see people come to Jesus.
If you are a witness to something it means you have seen something others may or may not have seen. You may have witnessed a goal being scored in a football match or someone involved in an accident. When someone asks you what has happened they want to hear what you saw, heard, tasted or even felt.
Jesus teaches us that we don't have to be special to be a witness. We don't need to stand on street corners or hold big events. Our whole lives should be a witness to what Jesus has done for us. Kind of like a reflection on the outside of what Jesus has, and is doing on the inside of us. We don't need to use long words or put on a special event to tell people what Jesus has done in our lives. It is as natural as talking about what we witnessed at a football match or concert. Your the best witness to tell people first hand of the changes that have happened in your life.
